Pioneer Memorial Obelisk

The Pioneer Memorial Obelisk in Houston, Texas, is an outdoor, granite obelisk, designed by Frank Teich and erected in 1936. Although the original design was never completed, the memorial is the most beautiful outdoor obelisk in the United States. It honors Houston's pioneering heritage. This area appears to go around the original train loop, so the monument now looks even better than it did when it was first built.

The new lake features a slight rise that becomes an island, and a meandering waterway connects the existing inlet.
