Monkey Joes Westheimer

An Interview with the Owner of Monkey Joe's on Westheimer

Monkey Joe’s is one of the most memorable fast food experiences you’ll have. It’s an old drive-thru tucked away on Westheimer, where you can get a giant stack of pancakes, oodles of hash browns, and a syrupy delicious hot dog in under ten minutes. That’s if there aren’t any traffic jams on the road today. The restaurant usually closes half an hour before its official closing time but sometimes it sticks around late into the night to feed late night munchies seekers. Every once in a while they even extend their hours until 1AM. It’s owned by Charlie Dean and his brother Joe—the former being the creative mastermind behind this breakfast chain sensation, and the latter being his trusty sidekick who helps him run it day in and day out. Both brothers are committed to making sure that as many people can enjoy Monkey Joe’s as possible every single day of the year so they keep adding new locations all over Houston at breakneck speed with each passing month!

What made you decide to open a fast food restaurant?

Our parents were always big on getting us outside for activities and having us get involved in things that we loved. For us, that was fishing. One day, when we were about eleven, we decided we wanted to open a restaurant. It wasn’t as much about making money as it was about being able to go fishing every morning and have that same feeling we got when we first got into the fishing profession. And then, it just kind of happened. We wanted to open a breakfast joint, so we started researching places in the Houston area that delivered. We found some menus online and decided we wanted to create something that was uniquely ours. It was a perfect marriage of our love of fishing and breakfast foods. And we never looked back.

How did you choose the Westheimer location for Monkey Joe’s?

We knew that we wanted to open in Houston’s Westside area because of the great food and culture we’d experienced up there. Plus, we’d heard from a few people that the area was lacking in a good breakfast joint, so we were ready to give it a shot. We looked at a few locations on Westheimer and were immediately drawn to the company’s Westheimer location. It’s in a cute, little building that’s easy for people to park in, it’s got a great location with a view of Buffalo Bayou, and we think the interior is really cute as well. It’s perfect for what we’re doing. useful link

Is it really so hard to find locations for a new restaurant opening in Houston?

We know that it seems like we’re opening a new location every week, but it’s actually pretty rare to find a quality location that’s available. In Houston, we have some of the best real estate in the country, so it’s not easy to find a new location that’s perfect for a new business. We’re lucky to live in a city that has so many great people and businesses, so finding a new location for us doesn’t take much effort. We’ll go to some locations that aren’t up to par and we’ll tell our managers not to bother trying them again, and we’ll just search for a new one and get our business up and running in no time.

What do you think makes your food taste so good?

We think that our menu is one of our best features. You can’t go wrong with any of our items, and we’ve got something for everyone. We have a vegetarian option, and then we have a few options that include meat. We also have options that include bunless and bun-less options so you can pick and choose what you want to put in your body. We think that our food tastes so good because of all of the hard work our chefs put into it every day. They’re constantly experimenting with new recipes, and they’re constantly trying out new toppings and condiments to make sure that our food tastes as amazing as possible.

What’s your favorite part of running your own business?

There’s so much that we love about Monkey Joe’s, and we’re just excited to see what the future holds for us. We love that we get to create a new business every day, and we love that we get to help people eat better every day of their lives. We love that we get to help people get back to being active, and we love that we get to give people a quick, cheap, and easy way to get their daily meals. There are so many things that we love about running our own business, and we’re just excited that we get to do it every day.

Which came first: the pancakes or the hot dogs?

It’s hard to say. We think that both pancakes and hot dogs are delicious and that our customers would agree if we asked them. We know that the hot dogs are our most popular item, so we’d say that that’s the one we’d be most excited about ordering if we went to our local Monkey Joe’s. We also know that our customers love our pancakes, so if that were the case, we’d probably be ordering them too. We think it’s a coin toss.

Do you have any advice for aspiring franchise owners in Houston?

We think that the biggest thing that people should keep in mind when they’re trying to open a franchise is that it’s not just about the business, it’s also about the people. You’ve got to find a great location and then get the right people to help make it happen. We think that it’s important to find a good location because it makes things easier for everyone, and then we think that it’s important to find great employees who are excited about the restaurant and excited to be a part of it. We think that you’ve got to find a great location and then you’ve got to find a great location for the employees. We think that people who want to open a franchise should find a great location, find great people, and then go for it.
